Our Mission

Transforming mental health care in Africa through science, empathy, and community empowerment.

Become a Certified GSP Counselor

Our mission at SEEK GSP is to alleviate depression and other mental health challenges by delivering culturally sensitive, evidence-based psychotherapy that empowers individuals, families, and communities to heal together.

We exist to bridge the gap between clinical science and real-world practice, ensuring that mental health care is accessible, relatable, and sustainable across Africa — especially among vulnerable populations such as people living with HIV, those affected by trauma, and individuals in low-resource settings.

Our Mission Pillars

1. Empowering Communities Through Knowledge

We train community health workers, lay facilitators, and professionals to deliver Group Support Psychotherapy (GSP) effectively, ensuring that healing begins from within the community itself.

2. Promoting Culturally Relevant Mental Health Care

We believe therapy should speak the language of the people it serves. Our model adapts to local cultures, beliefs, and traditions, creating trust and resonance that drive long-lasting impact.

3. Advancing Research and Innovation

Our work is rooted in over 20 years of scientific research led by Professor Etheldreda Nakimuli-Mpungu and her team. Through continuous learning, innovation, and evaluation, we refine our model to stay effective and relevant.

4. Building Sustainable Systems of Support

We aim to create a continent-wide network of trained GSP facilitators and mental health advocates, capable of delivering psychosocial care that transforms lives and strengthens communities.

5. Reducing Stigma and Promoting Healing

We work to change the narrative around mental health by raising awareness, breaking stigma, and encouraging open dialogue — helping individuals seek support without fear or shame.
