Dear Learners, Partners, and Friends,
When I began my journey as a psychiatrist in Uganda, I encountered countless individuals living with HIV who were not only fighting a medical condition but also an invisible battle — the heavy burden of depression, stigma, and isolation. I saw how untreated mental health challenges affected their ability to adhere to treatment and live meaningful lives.
This realization led me on a mission — to understand how mental health care could be delivered in a way that was accessible, culturally relevant, and grounded in science. Through years of research, community engagement, and collaboration with dedicated colleagues, the Group Support Psychotherapy (GSP) model was born.
What began as a study has now become a continent-wide movement — empowering health workers, community leaders, and ordinary people to deliver healing in their own languages, using their own cultural strengths. SEEK GSP has proven that when science meets compassion, transformation happens — and that mental health care can truly be for everyone.
Through the SEEK GSP Academy, we are bringing this knowledge to the digital space, so that anyone, from anywhere in Africa, can learn, grow, and become a force for change. My hope is that this platform becomes not just a place of learning, but a community of healers — bound by empathy, knowledge, and purpose.
Together, we can build a continent where no one suffers in silence, and where every person has access to the care, understanding, and support they deserve.
With gratitude and hope,
